Protected Emergency Room for Haifa
Bnai Zion Medical Center is located within range of rocket fire from nearby Lebanon and Syria. Bnai Zion Foundation is raising funds for the construction of a protected underground Emergency Room and Hospitalization unit so that the Medical Center can continue to deliver the highest level of care to its patients, under all circumstances.
"The situation is not if we’ll suffer another missile attack, but when. We must be prepared."— Dr. Amnon Rofe, Former CEO of Bnai Zion Medical Center
The Bnai Zion Medical Center (BZMC) is a living expression of Bnai Zion’s mission of caring for all the people of Israel with dignity and compassion. For nearly a century, BZMC has provided high-quality medical care to Israel’s most vulnerable citizens. Despite its humanitarian purpose, this important site remains a distinct target for enemy rockets. Building a protected ER now will ensure that, even in the event of another attack aimed at Haifa, BZMC can continue to save lives for many years to come.
Every year, more than 53,000 visits are made to Bnai Zion’s emergency department, where all patients receive exceptional medical care, including citizens injured in terror attacks. These patients come from all walks of life and represent a multitude of races, religions, and nationalities. All are given the same access to cutting-edge treatments, delivering on Bnai Zion’s promise of compassionate and dignified care for all of Israel.
In wartime and in peace, Bnai Zion Medical Center plays a crucial role in treating and rehabilitating those in need of medical care. Without a unit that is protected against potential attacks, the most vulnerable people in Haifa and the surrounding areas – those in need of medical attention – remain at risk.
Bnai Zion Medical Center is a full-service facility, with departments and services not available in other hospitals in Northern Israel. BZMC maintains the highest standards of healthcare and consistently receives the highest marks in patient satisfaction according to national surveys. Protected facilities will ensure that this vital service continues under all circumstances, providing care and safety to all of Haifa in the face of extremely divisive conditions.
